About the wood used to make your gift.

At Samigail's Handmade Personalised Gifts we use two types of wood and are very conscious of using ethically sourced wood for our gifts. We use high quality birch ply which comes from commercially managed forests i.e. the trees are crops, and are all replanted, as with any other type of farming.

The other wood we use is sycamore wood which is obtained by us directly from a wood owner in Devon. The owner of the woodland ethically produces the wood. Currently 'thinnings' are used from the time when the wood had been mis-managed prior to purchase by the current owner. Apart from a chainsaw, no heavy equipment is used and harvesting is only carried out between October and March, to protect nesting birds and the woodland flora.
